Sound as a Weapon for Change

Join us for Sound as a Weapon for Change - a science talk by Dr Mark Richards, Atmospheric Physicist at Imperial College London.

Mark will explore the nature of sound as a (physical) waveform and the special role sound has played in shaping the universe. More generally, he will reflect on sound waves as ‘energy and information carriers’ including how this relates to sound through music and rhythm as a communication tool, and in particular, how ‘Word, Sound and Power’ has been used throughout history as a catalyst for social change.

Acosta Danza Evolution

International ballet superstar Carlos Acosta brings his critically acclaimed Cuban company to Birmingham Hippodrome.

In this programme of new and existing works, Acosta himself makes a guest appearance in the iconic Rooster, choreographed by Christopher Bruce to music by the Rolling Stones. The company also perform new works, PaysageSoudainla nuit by visionary Swedish choreographer Pontus Lidberg and Satori, by breakthrough Cuban choreographer Raúl Reinoso.

Standing Strong 2019: Birmingham

Come and meet your extraordinary family from Nigeria, Asia and the Middle East.

Join us on Saturday 16 November 2019 at the Bethel Convention Centre (BCC) in Birmingham. Come and hear amazing stories of God’s faithfulness and how Christians are standing strong through the fiercest storms.

The event will start at 10 am and will finish at 4 pm. Doors Open at 9:00 am.

Community Fun Day Challenging mental health stigma!

 

COMMUNITY FUN DAY IN BIRMINGHAM CITY CENTRE ON SATURDAY 24 AUGUST

Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (BSMHFT) is to host a Community Fun Day at Birmingham Cathedral, Colmore Row, B3 2QB

This will be the first time that the Trust has held one of its popular community events in the city centre. Helping to raise mental health awareness, these community fun days have been a fixture in the Trust’s calendar since 2012, with events having been held annually at its sites across Birmingham and Solihull.

Hidden Colors 5 The Finale

Eric Mitchell from Sankore and King Flex Entertainment presents the UK premiere in Birmingham of the highly anticipated film Hidden Colors 5 with lectures by the director of the film, Tariq Nasheed, and Professor Kaba Hiawatha Kamene.

Tariq Nasheed, the director of the film, will also present a lecture about Organising Against Global Anti-Black Racism and Global Black Empowerment.

Professor Kaba Hiawatha Kamene, 'The Master Teacher, will also present a dynamic lecture based on his brand new book Spirituality Before Religions. He will also be launching his new book.
