You are most welcome to join us at the unveiling of a blue heritage plaque in honour of Ida B Wells on Tuesday, 12 February 2019 at the Edgbaston community centre, 40 View Dr, Edgbaston, Birmingham, B15 2HU. The event will take place between 12 and 3 PM featuring a host of guest speakers, performing artists and local schoolchildren. Ida's visits to Birmingham are a significant part Black history in the City, and the Blue Plaque forms part of the Black heritage walks network Edgbaston walk which launches later this year. The event is free in the programme and timings will be fully released shortly so keep checking back here.
To commemorate this day three activities are planned
13:00 to 15:00 - The unveiling of the historic Ms IDA B Wells blue Plaque.
15:00 to 16:00 - A Workshop Ms Ida B Wells hosted by Natty Mark
18:30 to 20:30 - Panel Discussion hosted by Professor Robert Beckford, Christ Canterbury University, Kent
